My 1920s inspired kitchen

by brae

Before delving into the final push on the first floor so I can begin the second floor, I went through my stash of minis to fully set up the kitchen.

Grandma has been out in the garden again.  :D

I tried to not clutter the room, but just a few added accessories really change the feel.

For the Hoosier cabinet, I had to set up the vignette outside of the kitchen to get a decent photograph.

The kitchen sink is one of my favorite minis!

Grandma has her cleaning supplies and some extra baskets under the sink.

I love the way this room has come together.  :D

I love your kitchen, I can imagine the old lady having pride in her clean house, looking after each item with care, thanks for placing the tea towels, they look great, and I so love the poppy one.

I love it! Having all the accessories added makes the room shine. The kitchen looks well used and well loved, without being cluttered. It's fantastic how the mixing bowls you placed on the Hoosier cabinet coordinate with the ones I put in...what a great match. You're missing something though...you need a half used, worn down bar of soap on the holder on the sink. Hmmm...and what about a white doily on the table, under the flower arrangement?

Thank you!!! :>> Marlene - I thought the poppy towel was the best coordinating in color for the sink. I have one left over - the one with all the cats - I'll use that one in a future build. :D Keli - there is a doily on the kitchen table, but it is small. I'll pick up a larger one next time I order from HBS. And, I couldn't find my soap...so I'll have to make one soon! :))

Brae, when I looked at your kitchen, the first word that came to mind was "comfort"! It is so cozy! I love how you have arranged all your accessories. The sink makes such a 20s statement and the cleaning necessities under it add a sort of relaxed casualness. If this kitchen were real, I would love to sit in it and just rest and let my mind wander. That's probably what the lady of the house does, I suspect. In those days, did people not gather more in the kitchen than in the parlour? I must say that Kelly's hosier cabinet looks marvelous with all the accessories in place. This kitchen is stunning! I'm almost crying! You say you love the way this room has come together? Brae, it did not just come together, it was your hard work and persistence that made it what it is!

So well put together Brae. I have been clicking on all the photographs and taking in each piece of the scene. The cameo of the table in the bay window is just perfect. My favourite piece has to be the fridge. Superb clean design. Now I am going back for another look.

This is wonderful! I feel like I could just go in that kitchen and just "set a spell" with the nice Grandma who lives here. Absolutely wonderful scene.

Hi, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed and admired your blog/houses. Everything you do is just so beautiful and your attention to details is perfection. I'm always excited to check your blog to see what new things you've done. I have been working(looking, lol) at my dollhouse for far too many years; looking at your blog has motivated me to finish mine.
