Vintage suitcases

by brae

Stacks of vintage suitcases are all over the design blogs and Pinterest.  They combine nostalgia and beauty.  I knew I wanted a set for grandma's attic, and there is no better artisan to turn to than Fran at FranMadeMinis.  I sent her some of my favorite pictures of vintage suitcases, and she knocked it out of the park once again!

They have the most delightful tactile sensation and the perfect weight.

She added wonderful hardware and aged detailing.

Here's a penny to show the scale.

They look perfect in the nook by the chimney, though I need to finish the rest of the rafters and beams to do them and the other recent acquisitions justice.  :D

Thank you, Fran, for adding some wonderful nostalgia and realism to grandma's attic!

You can see her wonderful vintage umbrellas in the Heritage entryway.

The cases are fabulous. Beautiful detail. Isn't Pinterest a great source of inspiration. I've spent a bit of time on Pinterest this morning pinning photos to a secret board in preparation for a miniature project I have in mind.

What amazing work she does! What intricate work when one looks at the tiny locks! I am always so amazed when faced with talent of this nature! A most suitable contribution to Grandma's attic!

I'm not on Pinterest, but I've stayed up way too late on many a night because of it!!! :)) Well, I do have an account, I just don't have any boards going. I keep my idea files on my own computer.

Thanks, Brae, for a delightful challenge and the opportunity to contribute to your fabulous project. We'll probably never know all the stories it could tell . . .

Brae, I don't think you're the only who stays up too late at night feasting on eye candy! It's gotten to the point that I don't even watch television anymore!

I love these suitcases, Brae and have several full-sized ones in my real living space as they are ideal for holding the over-flow of CD's that I don't want to have out on view. Your mini ones are marvelously detailed and look almost too good for the attic! Isn't it interesting how vintage suitcases are so much more fun to look at than the modern streamlined, waterproof and solid black ones that you see on real life airport trolleys. There is an emotional connection that we respond to with your luggage in the attic that I don't think would be the same, otherwise. elizabeth

I love vintage suitcases in mini and in real life too, these are truly inspirational. I'm a great fan of keeping inspiration pics on Pinterest rather than on my computer having lost more than a few in hard-drive crashes. If there is something in particular you don't want to share with the world and his wife you can use the private boards.
