Master bedroom and hallway planning

by brae Email

The two remaining areas on the second floor are the hallway leading to the guest room and the master bedroom.  Here's the basic layout for the master bedroom.

None of this furniture is permanent; the pieces are just placeholders.  The room looks a little country with these pieces, but it will be much more modern once put together.  The door shown leads to the bathroom, and there is a double French door on the right that leads to the conservatory shown below.  I have a bed kit and plan to scratch build an armoire and dresser for storage as well as other smaller pieces.  :D  Exciting....

The hallway isn't very wide, but I don't want to neglect it.  The door shown leads to the guest room, and there's a doorway on the right that leads to the bathroom.  I need to plug the precut stair hole and cut a new one leading upstairs since I flipped the first floor staircase and had to change the layout.

There will be a railing around the hole leading downstairs, so the hallway table will need to be smaller than the one I've used for the placeholder here.  I found a great real life hallway photo for inspiration, but I'm keeping that secret for now...stay tuned.

Dear Brae, Thank you for visiting my blog, great to find you in return. I have the same settee but with two chairs that I have used in the grand salon - very interesting to see how you have upholstered them.... did you do the painting as well?
I am not sure where you are located. I am in Vancouver BC Canada

Hi, Janine - Glad you stopped by! I have two matching chairs for the settee as well...just used one in this setup. They won't be used in the conservatory, though - the study took them and refused to give them back. :D I actually didn't upholster them - that is the way they came. The artwork is Plum Tree Panel III by Rodolfo Jimenez printed on Art Canvas - it hangs in the living room but I needed something for the layout.
