Making a custom door, part 4

by brae

I am halfway through my week off from work, and I have been busy on the contest house!  :D  I've finished working on the custom door.  I cut some Avery silver labels to add some interest around the door knob from ELF Miniatures.  I didn't add a lock detail because all of my attempts fell short of what I wanted.  So, we'll just say it's a smart house and it knows who should come and go.  :D

I like to cut out the underside of the hinge pin to countersink the pin head.  This will keep the door from tipping or floating over the flooring surface.

I painted the door frame Warm White and the base step Neutral Grey, both by Americana.  Here's a sneak peek!  :O

Ok, back to work!  :D

Oh I love the color. Contrasts so nicely with the white of the house. Such a nice little pop. And the ‘watered’ glass is lovely.

This door combines and transcends all that is good about contemporary modern design. And it’s beautifully executed. Well done!

I love the detail of the sticker; that it mimics the shape of the windows. Lovely colour and lovely door =0)

that looks great Brae! I agree about the colour, unusual for a front door and I like it a lot! I like it that you put the sticker the way you did, off center etc. The glass looks so realistic, great work!

Every time I look at this door and outside wall I am amazed and just can’t help but pull it up and look again. This is what miniatures is all about.
