Mackintosh light
by brae
When I started putting in the can lights in the living room, I opted to leave out the chandelier I had initially planned to hang above the coffee table. Mainly because the one I had didn't seem to add anything to the design and it wasn't needed for light.
That was before this light went on sale. I ordered it online from a supplier in the UK and just received it today. Wow! What a huge light fixture - just over four inches tall.

When I first took it out of the package, I thought I was going to have to return it for being too big. The Newport has 10-inch high ceilings, but I didn't think that would help. There's no way to shorten the light, either.
So, I taped it in place...just to make sure.
Sorry for the poor photo quality, but the electric is out on the house as I work on the wire channels.
I love this light here. I don't think it overpowers the room after all. :] With the Mackintosh chairs, the fixture fits in well with the style of the room, and the light color of the finish keeps it from being too bulky regardless of its size.
As I stepped back from the house, I realized there wouldn't be a whole lot going on in the space between the ceiling and the couch without the bold statement this light makes. Looks like a keeper! :D
