Ivy Hollow - wallpaper decisions

by brae

Between the blog and Instagram, there were clear audience preferences to the wallpaper options. :D Now that I have the flooring stained (though not completely finished), I will give them a further look. This is the flooring, the paper printout of the rug that is much lighter in color here than in real life, the stove, the exterior window trim color (the interior trim surround has not been painted) and an approximation of the darker furniture stain.

Graphic 45 - Cityscapes Collection - Crossroads. I love this one truly, but it's probably too fancy-pants for a rural post office. This won't be the last time I consider this paper but not for this build.

Kaiser Craft - Provincial Collections - Chaise. Many liked the green for its tie-in with the green doors. I find it a little busy and overwhelming.

Brodnax Prints - 1VT321 - Hospitality. A vertical stripe pattern is what I had in the back of my mind all along, and a lighter toned paper might work better for a small interior.

I have one more to introduce. Brodnax Prints - 1VT344 - Gathering Stripe Green. Another vertical stripe, more in line with my original vision and a bit more subtle than the dots and lines. This is the one I'll likely choose in the end.

I love the Hospitality paper! The fancier one is still probably my favorite, but I get that it doesn’t work as well in a rural setting like this. So Hospitality gets my vote!

Yes, I was leaning toward the Hospitality until I had the Gathering Stripe in hand. It's such a close second that if I mess up the Gathering Stripe paper, I won't bother to order more and will use the Hospitality instead.

Of course, I still might change my mind. :))

Hospitality! It works nicely with the floor and other interior colors and as you said, will work well in a small room. :D

I just commented on the other wallpaper post that I like the first one best, but the fourth one here is also, in my mind, very evocative of the time. I am going, you understand, by grand old houses (same period) in Mexico City (so probably not quite the same style at all).

I still love the first paper, but see your point about room size and fancy-pants pattern. Hospitality was originally my second favorite, but I think I like Gathering Stripe better, it is somehow more 'settled' (is that even a thing for wallpaper?) Anna x

I like your choice, although I love the first one and Brodnax Pint, got a post office, a more subtle print works.

I think the Gathering Strip green is wonderful. I love the first paper but it reminds me more of a Victorian parlor than a post office.

I am with the Gathering Stripe camp for this build, but I really want to see you use that first one when you find the perfect room for it.

I think that you have made a great choice in the Gathering Stripe for your post office walls, as it will provide a nice neutral backdrop for the warm wood fittings, it will soon have in front of it and also because the classic stripe evokes a subtle reference to a mattress ticking which is Very Rural and ideal for a county gathering place.

The last one is really great. But I still like the first most. :)

Thank you!! :>> It really seems a close tie between the two stripes, but yes, I am still leaning toward the more subtle Gathering Stripe.
