Today was my adventure in learning to use a drill press at the Bishop Show. The instructor was Tom Walden, and he taught us so many great techniques. I can see a whole new world of minis opening up for me. I bought the set-up that holds the Dremel I already had (there are more accessories in a bag and it's obviously not fully set up here...just home from the show).
We did inlay and mortice and tenon. Tom did the pin routing curve cut for me since I couldn't get a feel for it and didn't want to ruin my inlay piece. :D I'll just need to practice.
We routed edges and so much more. :] He encouraged photos and note-taking, so I have a lot of good material for continued study. I highly recommend this class, but it sells out quickly.
After class, I headed to the 3 Blind Mice show for opening night. I love this show -- always a good mix of goodies in need of discovery.
A Little More in Miniatures. Crazy daisies kit.
All About Miniatures. Doors and a seltzer set. Greg has a whole room full of goodies!
Gayle Dolls. A wonderful strombrella kit.
JoAnne Roberts. Always a wonderful selection of fabrics.
More fantastic birds from Barbara Ann Meyer of Mini Gems.
Tomorrow is the opening day of the Bishop Show. :D
Wow, great finds! The class sounds great, can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Ooh, so cool! Love the inlay pieces and such wonderful finds! Love Greg’s stuff, and the fabrics and flower kits are divine. Can’t wait to see what you do with it all! Have FUN tomorrow!!
Oh, I’m sad I have to miss the shows this year, I miss you!
I need to take that class. I was given a Drexel brand drill press but don’t know how to use it…didn’t realize I could route with it. I guess I’ll have to watch some you tube videos.
Nice haul, I especially like the doors. Can’t wait to see what you find at the Bishop show.
Great finds, Brae, hope to see more !! Have lots of fun and thank you for sharing.
I just took the Tim Kraft workshop and learned a lot about electrical wiring and soldering. It was amazing! Highly recommend. I saw you at the fabrics table at Three Blind Mice but was afraid to approach because I wasn’t 100% sure it was you and did not want to look like a fool. HA! Have fun tonight at the show.
I love the little birdies, I have a dremmel but I dont use it much because real life has gotten in the way but I plan on doing something soon
There is nothing like going to a Miniature Show to revitalize and get you even more excited to Create! I love the selection of your purchases and the fact that you were able to learn a new skill with the drill press, too!
This is one of the only times I’m bummed to not be living in Chicago. You’re going to have so much fun with your dremmel I can tell.
Glad to share the good mini times! Please, by all means, come say hi if you see me at the shows.
Hi, I was thinking of you today and wondered if you went out to the shows. I am going to Bishop tomorrow. I love the fabrics and everything that everyone brings to the shows AND there are so many shows this weekend. I cannot wait…now, to get off my 3rd shift type schedule and get up tomorrow. So glad you had a great time.
