Chrysnbon parlor stove, part 2

by brae

This past week, I did some spray painting and coated the Chrysnbon parlor stove with Krylon Fusion flat black.  I have the stovepipe also painted, but I didn't photograph it because it was drying on another board.

It toned down the super fancy look of the stove while still maintaining a lot of character.

This is what it looked like before.  The original silver portions were marred -- it was an old kit -- but I wanted it all black anyway.  In fact, the silver accents it had distracted from all the intricate detailing.

Though I love the way it turned out, I'm 99% sure this is going to be omitted from the HBS build.  It's a lovely piece but rather large for the space I have.  I went ahead and spray painted it because with winter bearing down on the area, I won't get much opportunity to paint outdoors soon and I had other items being sprayed anyway.  This way, it can be finished up and ready for a future project.  :]

It looks so much more realistic in the flat black. Too bad it won't fit in your HBS build; do you have other plans for it now, or will it just have to wait until you come up with something?
