In some sad news, my tiny hamster companion Baxter has died.  He was a sweet little guy who was definitely on borrowed time at three years old.  Here he is enjoying a yogurt yummy just a few days ago.  My little old bald friend.

He won the lottery in September 2010 by being featured in the Greenleaf Gazette's Critter Corner as Hamster in Half Scale (well, to a hamster, $25 worth of yogurt yummies is decidedly a jackpot).  :D  Here he is in his winning photo...

And, here he is when he first came to live with me.  I hadn't really planned to bring a hamster home that night, so I set him up in a tiny holding cage while I cleaned all the stuff for his larger permanent home.

I once had gerbils and got quite attached to them. I am sure Baxter was a very special friend. seems like even though they don't speak English, they speak to us in other ways. sending you lots of love and hugs.

I am so sorry to hear of Baxters passing. It is never easy to lose our furry (feathered, finned) friends. He had a long life and that was due to his being loved. I am sure you will miss him. HUGS, Teresa

So sad to lose such a darling little friend. Baxter Point Villa is where he will be in spirit. You may find him scurrying around in the kitchen one night gobbling up all of the yogurt yummies that I'm sure you hid for him there.
