Last week, I was at the pet store and just had to go by the hamsters.  :]  I was looking at the Robo hamsters when one little guy in the next bin over came up to the glass.  I just melted.  :D  I've named him Milo, and he has the sweetest disposition.  He likes to be picked up and cuddled.

He's a Russian hamster, so slightly larger than the dwarf breeds I usually have.  Here he is nibbling a morsel on his first day home.

Sydney at the Rainbow Bridge

by brae

My little hamster friend Sydney crossed the Rainbow Bridge tonight.  He developed a large tumor a few months back but continued to move around, run in his wheel (until a few days ago) and seemed to have no pain.  He was unsteady on his feet in his final days, and this morning I knew the time was near.  He was slightly cold to the touch and taking shallow breaths.  When I returned home tonight, he had made his way back into his wood hut and died peacefully sometime today.  He looked as though he were sleeping.  I could not have wished a kinder passing for him.

Here he is on his first day with me.

And, here he is snoozing away not too long ago, a little old guy.

I'm sorry he won't see our new home, but I feel like he gave me a wonderful gift tonight.  On the way home this evening, there was a beautiful sunset and I had the most amazing feeling of utter peace.  I even said Thank You aloud.  I'm sure it was his message to me.  Goodbye, my sweet friend...see you someday!  :]

Endora is a beautiful black and white cat from agzr*studios.  Here she is resting on a custom afghan by Woodland Miniatures draped over a Bespaq striped sofa.  The wise owl pillow is from Katie Arthur.

A. Gabriela Z. Rodriguez, the artist who made Endora, does amazing work on human figures as well.  :]

Baa, baa, brown sheep, come on over to my house!

There's this delightful etsy shop called Motley Mutton, and the artist creates wonderful needlefelted animals.  I've been for awhile now and finally found a friend of my own.  This is Isla, and she's a lovely little sheep.  :D

Nancy makes the animals so they sit on satin cords so you can wear your new friend as jewelry if you like...or hang as an ornament.

It would be simple enough to remove her from the cord to use in a miniature scene, too.

A throne for Ophelia

I've always loved the shape and color of this Petite Princess chair and ottoman.  :D  I found a decent set at a good price on eBay and decided to take the plunge.

I knew it would be a bit small for 1:12 scale -- I believe it's meant to be 1:16 scale.  It's comparable to a Chrysnbon chair, so it's not terrible for full scale...just a little low to the ground.

Ophelia seems to like it, and it fits just right for her.  I wonder if anyone else will ever have the chance to try it out?  :D
